HOUSE STUDIO DC / $5 MUSIC VIDEO presents LIMELIGHT episode 4: JOE CARABEO

It’s here! Check out my episode of LIMELIGHT.

Here’s the copy I’ve been posting everywhere with it…
Produced by House Studio and 5$ Music Video, check out a rare glimpse into the mind of Astray Productions and Curls Studio Director/Photographer/Writer Joe Carabeo. Not only that but it also features the amazing talents of model/stylist Carrie Cornwell / Carrie Jo - Official and make up work of Jessie Campbell / Jessie Campbell Mua

Share, Enjoy, Share your thoughts.
(Note: None of the photos shown are the final images from the shoot with Carrie Jo, those are coming soon)

My thoughts.
I dig it. You’re never too sure how these pieces are gonna ever come out, or how you’re gonna end up looking. Putting yourself in another producers hands is always a challenge. Cause at least for me I’m so used to being behind the camera and in the directors seat that it’s hard to let that go. We are where we are for a reason. But one thing I always say is, “How are you supposed to direct someone in front of the camera if you your self don’t know how it feels to be in front of the camera being directed”

Overall I enjoyed it. I was also battling my normal vocal issues, but it doesn’t show, at least until you read this and listen back. HA. Also, it was fun to bring out my Mr Bandit music gear. I did play music while on set, but it was wasn’t used, cause really, I don’t think it would have fit in the groove anyway. It was loud, graphic and haunting though. PLUS another interesting thing while on set was that while all my pedals were engaged and I stomped my trusty BOSS DD-5 delay, it started picking up a close by radio station and channeling it through my amp, and it came through crystal clear! BUT it meant I couldn’t do anything with that pedal. It was a bit of a downer, cause I was in the mood to jam with it and make space music. But its all good. Roll with the punches.

Hope you all enjoyed the LIMELIGHT episode and small rare peek into my brain.

This important panel will explore what it is like to be on the other side of the table, as a creator. We will discuss what it takes to exhibit at conventions, promote yourself, gain a loyal audience, and hopfully survive the life as comic book creator in today’s wild west industry - from the POV of professionals already behind the table. THE MADCAP THREE  - FINALLY RELEASED ON-LINE! Produced/ Directed/ Written by - Brian Sarvis - Joe CarabeoIn 2005 before the era of HD and Kickstarter, on a budget of nothing but their wits, Joe Carabeo and Brian Sarvis, today the producers of ONE-SHOTS.com , set out to create their first long form film called, THE MADCAP THREE. An ambitious multilayer crime noir story produced in and around the city of Richmond Virginia, is finally released on-line in its entirety.  SYNOPSIS -An accidental murder of a former associate sets the tone of the night that will change the lives of everyone. Filled with characters with love and no mercy, The Madcap Three spares nobody in its tale of dark romance, crime noir and twisted reality. It’s a journey that takes you from the alleyways of the bad side of town to the dark forest hills where people disappear. When the sun rises, no one will come out clean.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1357453/CASTRebekah Bayles as Gwen GleesonBecca Bernard as Bell BrantHeather Hamilton Brown as Molly PaigeJohn Paul Cokes as Billie PresleyJustin Dray as Styles StoneTony Giamicheal as Johnny FrancoAdam Hackworth as Zack MadisonNikita Moyer as Miss Van DornJohn Reinhold as Edrick EdwardsBrian Sarvis as Nice guy driverStephanie Schmidt as Nice guy’s girlfriendGonzalo Vargas as James ArmstrongKelly West as Waitress Sallie Keena  …  key makeup artistJacob Pulliam  …  electricianAndrew Vo  …  best boy Music by Ian Vo and Carlos Almonte RUNNING TIME - 62 min-It’s been almost 9 years since Brian Sarvis and I produced this movie… When we produced this film there was no HD, this was no Indiegogo, no kickstarter or any self funding, there was barely internet, social media like facebook or twitter, we didn’t have websites, we just had making films. AND at the time, Brian Sarvis and I didn’t have a clue compared to what we know now now that we’ve been producing and working on films for almost 9 years! But still… We were on the tail end of our schooling and fresh into our film making careers, and there’s just something about our complete reckless assault on making movies back then that was pure passion driven and free from the confines that we’ve run into today. Sorta miss it. It almost seems like a whole lifetime ago. But watching this movie now (it’s been years truthfully…) this film is pretty freaking bad ass. I’m not just saying that cause we made it, but it surprised me after just watching it now how vicious it is. Vicious as in “I can’t believe we did that!” And not in the shock value, blood and guts way. I’m also surprised with the writing and how twisted and black noir we were able to make this movie on a nothing budget. Its a pretty insane and fun movie. I’m still surprised about how many names I was able to create for the story and how many inside Easter eggs that I planted all over the film.Last but not least, THE PERFORMANCES!!After just watching it now on-line, my mind is blown away about how amazing all the performances are. All the actors made these characters amazing and memorable. There are some serious great moments in this film and it would do no justice at all by listing them you must watch it for yourself. So, officially, and on the record HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this movie possible. There is a super huge list at the end of the film too and I know I probably already said all my thank yous 8 years ago. But to the cast and pure skeleton crew, I still can’t believe we pulled this off! I’m happy everyone else in the whole world can watch our work now instead of just the limited run of dvd’s that were produced. I hope everyone shares this. AND NOW! It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t post an exclusive on the GO ASTRAY page. Check out the behind the scenes of the making of THE MADCAP THREE
